Inlays (medallions) are generally made from 6mm solid timber glued to a carrier (usually MDF) to achieve floor thickness. The inlays are hand-cut on a scroll saw and then glued together to form the inlay. Once assembled and glued to the MDF carrier, the inlays receive a light coat of sealer for protection during shipping. You will receive your inlay in a transport box, ready to be installed. Once installed in either new or existing floor they will be finished (sanded & sealed) with the floor. Please contact us should you wish to install your inlay in a pre-finished or engineered timber floor. We offer a comprehensive installation manual suitable for the D.I.Y. home owner or the installer. The process of installing the inlays is relatively easy.
